Applied Materials Under Investigation by Unnamed Government
New language in latest filing reveals semiconductor equipment maker has received a subpoena or other requests for information.

Applied Materials (AMAT), a semiconductor equipment maker, inserted new language in its latest quarterly filing revealing the company or its employees are now under investigation by an unnamed government:
“Applied also may receive, and has received, inquiries, warrants, subpoenas, and other requests for information in connection with government investigations of potential or suspected violations of law or regulations by Applied and/or its employees.”
One hour after the filing, Applied filed an 8-K announcing its SVP for Display and Flexible Technology, Ali Salehpour, intends to retire in January 2023. Salehpour is 60 years old.
